Under the direction of the Early Education Director, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Salina Family YMCA, the Assistant Teacher supports and assists the Lead Teacher, provides direction and implementation for the program and classroom, and provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. ResponsibilitiesMust be at least 16 years of age
6 months of previous experience working with children
Must be able to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
Have an understanding of family problems, their needs, as well as the needs of at-risk children
Good communication skills and the ability to create a risk-free environment on a daily basis
Able to make sound decisions based on factual information regarding kindergarten readiness skills
Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire
TB Test within 30 days of hire
