HeadFirst Counseling offers clinical mental health counseling services to children, teens, and parents in the Dallas, TX area. We specialize in play therapy, CBT, adolescent therapy, group and sibling play therapy, activity therapy, sandtray therapy, and parenting skills training. At HeadFirst, we create a welcoming environment to help families navigate difficult situations and begin the process of healing. Our focus is on the strengths and innate abilities of our clients to find creative solutions to their concerns. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients are valued, understood, and accepted regardless of their presenting concerns.

HeadFirst Counseling is a group private practice and heavily relies on group consultation and collaboration. Our team comes from various backgrounds including LPC, LCSW, and LMFTs.

Role Description

The open position is for a Child and Adolescent Therapist. The role involves providing therapeutic services to children and adolescents up to the age of 18, in addition to parenting sessions and some possible adult or family sessions. Techniques involved include play therapy, individual counseling, parent consultations, and group therapy sessions. This is an in-person role based in Dallas, TX with flexible hours Monday-Friday, no weekends.

Qualifications

  • Play Therapy experience and training required (minimum qualifications of internship experience with play therapy and Graduate coursework in play therapy techniques).
  • Flexible hours but some afternoons and evenings required, no weekends.
  • Experience in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
  • Case Management skills.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred, minimum requirement of LPC-Associate license or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
  • Open and flexible mindset and team player.
