Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: Base: $150,000+ per year; Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Bonus eligible

Position Overview

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing all daily operational functions of the organization, ensuring that teams are aligned with company goals and customer expectations. This role reports directly to the President and supervises the Operations Manager, Scheduling Department, Snow Division, Project Superintendents, and Estimating Team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in asphalt, paving, or concrete operations with proven experience leading high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across all divisions including paving, concrete, sealcoating, line striping, snow, and estimating
  • Align operational planning with long-term company revenue, crew, and equipment strategies
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Finance leadership to drive results
  • Review work-in-progress reports, cost data, and job profitability metrics to identify performance opportunities
  • Create and manage operating budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all departments
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, service quality, and profitability
  • Mentor and develop department leaders and field supervisors
  • Participate in strategic planning and execution

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of executive-level experience in asphalt, paving, or concrete operations
  • 5+ years of direct site management experience in construction or related fields
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, budgeting, estimating, and financial reporting
  • Experience with interpreting construction plans and contract documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • MBA or Engineering degree a plus

Work Environment & Travel

  • Primarily office-based with regular site visits

  • Local and regional travel required; occasional overnight travel
