Lead the Future of Banking in a Mission-Driven, Tech-Forward Institution

ProSearch is proud to partner with First National Bank, a trusted and community-rooted Maine-based institution, in the search for a Chief Information Officer (CIO). This key executive role is open due to the planned retirement of the current CIO, making it a rare opportunity to step into a well-established and respected leadership position.

As CIO, you'll shape the strategic direction of technology, cybersecurity, operations, fraud, and innovation across the bank, all while working with an engaged executive team and a strong internal staff. With modern systems in place and leadership support behind you, this is your chance to lead digital transformation with real impact.

This is a hybrid role. While based in Damariscotta, ME, we understand location can be a barrier - which is why flexible in-office presence is supported.

What You'll Lead

  • Enterprise strategy for technology, cybersecurity, operations, fraud, project management, and facilities
  • The strategic integration of AI, machine learning, automation, and modern core banking systems
  • Cross-functional collaboration as part of the Executive Management Team, Strategic Planning Committee, Technology Steering Committee, and Enterprise Risk Management Committee
  • Operational oversight including vendor management, disaster recovery, IT governance, compliance, and cybersecurity
  • Operations: Through supervision of Operations Management and staff, ensure that the operations departments—including Fraud—are working efficiently and in a cost-effective manner while maintaining a focus on the bank's customer-centric philosophy.
  • Facilities: Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to evaluate and approve purchases of the bank's supplies, furniture, and equipment. Plan, coordinate, and supervise the remodeling, construction, and maintenance of all bank buildings.
  • A supported transition from the outgoing CIO, with legacy knowledge and smooth onboarding

Who You'll Lead

  • Direct reports: Information and Cybersecurity Analyst, Loan Operations Manager, Deposit Support Services and Fraud Manager, Technology Manager, Facilities Manager, Administrative Assistant
  • Indirect reports: Project Manager, Technology Staff, Loan and Deposit Operations Staff, Fraud and Facilities Teams

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of progressive IT experience with 7+ years in senior leadership
  • Banking or financial services experience strongly preferred
  • Expertise in digital transformation, enterprise IT, core banking platforms, cybersecurity, and innovation leadership
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks including FFIEC, GLBA, BSA/AML
  • Vision for integrating emerging technologies with customer and business value
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style

Some of the Benefits

  • Annual bonus potential
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • 401(k) with 5% match
  • Pet insurance, paid volunteer time, employee stock plan, mental health resources & more

Why This Role

  • Step into a senior executive role with built-in transition support from the retiring CIO
  • Influence company-wide innovation and change
  • Enjoy a flexible hybrid work model with support from a stable and values-driven organization
  • Be part of a trusted bank with deep community roots and a progressive digital vision
