YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to meet corporate objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage department functions including budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results, and archives.
  • Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures using the company's estimating system and database.
  • Assist executives, Business Development, and Project Management in determining project bidding strategies.
  • Review final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Participate in presentations to management and clients; may be responsible for closing sales.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders.
  • Assist in preparing studies, materials, methods, and cost estimates as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Advanced management or technical training.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with modern computer estimating systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Positive attitude towards changing requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of staff, vendors, and clients.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating and related functions, with knowledge of construction contracts and strategies.
  • Combination of education and technical/field training acceptable.

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 10% or as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily indoor work with varying environmental conditions.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
