The Chief Engineer will be responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining guestrooms, common areas, and central systems. He/ She ensures guest, owner, and staff satisfaction and safety by providing timely responses to maintenance work orders, overseeing preventative maintenance plans, and ensuring courteous interaction and follow-up with guests, both internal and external. They will coordinate functions and activities with other department heads, guests, owners, suppliers, and contractors. Oversee maintenance of the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and technological systems (including, but not limited to, phones, televisions, internet, keys), and the related equipment by energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor a preventive maintenance program for all building equipment, public areas, and guestrooms.
- Maintain maintenance inventory control as it relates to equipment and supplies.
- Submit requisitions for needed supplies in line with the forecast, budget, and outside services for approval.
- Conduct routine inspections and walk-throughs of all hotel rooms and public areas.
- Lead the property Fire Safety program. Monitor, update, and implement a fire safety plan, building evacuation, and disaster recovery plan.
- Ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal laws. Rectify any building, code, or fire violations promptly.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors and provide timely status updates as needed.
- Facilitate the training and development of all associates to hotel standards.
- Conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews and continuously evaluate the maintenance team's performance, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Prepare and adjust work schedules following staffing guidelines and labor forecasts. Process payroll accordingly.
- Assist as necessary with special projects and renovation.
- Perform other duties as requested by General Manager.
- Salary range $120K based on experience
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of advanced facilities management experience in a hotel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Responsible & reliable with exceptional attention to detail.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance experience are required.
- Knowledge of regulations and safety standards.
- Knowledge of personal computers and various property-specific applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and Saflok.
- Willingness to respond to emergencies on short notice.
- Fire Safety Director Certification (preferred)
License/Certification:

*For applicants working in NYC, the anticipated compensation range for the position is $150k-160k range per year. The salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
