The Ship Engineer will work aboard the landing craft, ensuring smooth and effective operation of all equipment and systems on the vessel. The company relies on the Ship Engineer to set a high standard of personal and professional conduct and to maintain shipboard morale and respect for the company's purpose and mission.
Responsibilities• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and systems on the vessel.• Supervise all routine vessel maintenance and repairs to equipment and systems.• Conduct emergency repairs as required.• Develop and monitor maintenance schedules, inspection schedules, and audit schedules for the vessel.• Ensure that all vessel equipment is in compliance with required standards or guidelines.• Manage the supply of maintenance and repair parts.• Liaise with external contractors to ensure that overhauls, slipping, and other major works are completed.• Assist crew members so that they understand and perform routine maintenance and inspection adequately.• Adhere to safety guidelines for proper handling of vessels.• Assist with all operations as needed or as specified by Captain or Transport and Logistics Team Leader.• Comply with all Vital policies & procedures, documentation & reporting requirements, and safety management & security systems.• Report as required to line manager/s.• Understand handling characteristics of the vessel (maneuvering, docking, anchoring, etc.) as well as the operation of critical systems (electronic navigation aids, steering, de-watering, safety apparatus, etc.).• Provide training and orientation to new crew members.• Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
