About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity for a Chief Business Operations Officer to join an established real estate brokerage firm in New York City. The ideal candidate has worked in a leadership position in either operations and business development, and has experience with both leasing and sales. The CBO will have a 360 view of the company's business and will lead development, leasing, technology, operations, facilities, finance and commercial divisions, and will co-lead company corporate strategy and marketing functions. As CBO, you will play a critical role in the growth and success of the organization.
Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to expand the company's market presence.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, landlords, tenants, agents, employees, and additional industry stakeholders.
Leasing
- Oversee all aspects of the leasing department, ensuring efficient and profitable rental transactions.
- Implement strategies to maximize property occupancy and revenue. Ensure client satisfaction.
- Ensure fair and appropriate distribution to agents for project assignments.
- Develop Director of Leasing to ensure urgency, strong internal and external communication.
- Establish reporting systems among the team and provide concise management reports.
- Explore strategic opportunities for portfolio growth.
Technology
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to streamline operations, improve internal efficiencies, provide accurate reporting.
- Apprise oneself of current real estate trends in technology platforms.
- Ensure data-driven solutions are the norm.
Operations and Facilities
- Manage day-to-day internal operations including office spaces, facilities, administrative staff (VA's, Office Managers, Leasing Coordinators).
- Maintain the highest standards and efficiencies in daily business practices—reception, phones, key distribution, supplies, attendance.
Finance
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-effective measures (as well as cost cutting as needed).
- Develop, in collaboration with Director of Finance / CFO, the company's financial strategy, budgets, financial forecasting. Implement annual departmental budgeting, quarterly forecasting.
Commercial
- Oversee all aspects of the commercial leasing department, ensuring efficient and profitable leasing transactions.
- Implement strategies to maximize property occupancy and revenue.
- Ensure fair and appropriate distribution to agents for project assignments.
- Develop Director of Commercial Leasing to ensure urgency strong internal and external communication.
- Establish reporting systems among the team and provide concise management reporting.
- Help develop investment sales division.
Corporate Strategy
- (Co) develop and implement long-term corporate strategies to drive growth and profitability.
- Perform regular analysis of competition, customer needs / wants, market conditions, market trends.
- Identify opportunities for (advanced) strategic alliances.
Marketing
- (Co) lead marketing strategies for new business, pitches, leasing and commercial needs.
- (Co) develop and manage the Director of Marketing to ensure appropriate resources are in place.
- (Co) develop marketing strategies and tactics to elevate company's brand awareness among clients designed to assist in new business acquisitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, or a related field
- Proven experience in real estate management, business development, and corporate strategy
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent negotiation acumen
- In-depth knowledge of the real estate industry and the NYC market
- Familiarity with real estate technology and tools
