Apply now to learn more about GFS Chemicals. Let's see if we have Chemistry ! We are currently seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our GFS Chemicals Family. The Product Manager will combine theoretical knowledge with practical application to support a growing field that evaluates cleanliness of water whether it is source water or potable water in a municipal water distribution center. This person will have a good understanding of UV-VIS, and experience with spectroscopy measurement is a plus. This Product Manager will manage the turbidity standards and spectrophotometer reference materials portfolio, provide technical support and interface with marketing, sales and operations to ensure corporate targets are met. Responsibilities:
  • Manage product portfolio:
  • Provide input on pricing strategy relative to competitive offerings and specifications;
  • Create and modify product specifications;
  • Recommend and lead development of new products and SKUs;
  • Continuously provide feedback to rationalize product lines for new product additions and existing product eliminations - manage products within offering portfolio through the product lifecycle;
  • Monitor sales results to measure effectiveness of activities relative to overall financial goals of Division and Company, modify strategy and tactics when necessary to drive to business results;
  • Perform market and competitor analyses, and understand customer needs relative to GFS' competitive strengths and weaknesses for products and/or market segments, including technical capabilities, pricing, sizes, packaging materials, and specifications;
  • Own and develop annual marketing plan for assigned product lines in conjunction with marketing manager, drive product line to budget by following marketing plan, modify or pivot plan when necessary;
  • Own and develop sales budget targets for product line in line with sales budget targets for the broader division to help achieve divisional sales goals;
  • Manage relationships with large accounts for the product line, which may include customer visits;
  • Define pricing strategy, and margin expectations for the product line and its offerings, provide guidance to sales when in price competitive situations;
  • Assist with justification analyses for new products, acquisitions, and capital projects;
  • Identify new customers, customer groups and selling opportunities to maximize the company's penetration in the industry;
  • Developing and organizing product training for internal & dealer sales representatives and customers;
  • Provide technical assistance to customers, dealers, prospects, and internal staff (especially for sales, production, and quality control teams);
  • Represent GFS at trade shows and technical symposia, and assist with show organization, preparation, and set-up/take-down;
  • Assist in developing, producing, and maintaining marketing collateral as well as seminar and webinar content and white papers/application notes;
  • Regularly interacts with lab and/or production associates to execute analyses, develop methodologies, measure process capabilities in accordance with customer/market expectations. Leads efforts to eliminate gaps between actual performance and expected/ target results;
  • Adheres to all internal ISO procedures regarding change control.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or marketing preferred;
  • 2+ years' relevant work experience (as a product user or as an equivalent product specialist).
  • Up to 20% travel required
Required Skills:
  • Previous experience with new product launch/development preferred;
  • Previous experience in an industrial chemical environment preferred;
  • Demonstrated project management skills;
  • Product marketing and/or sales experience;
  • Data analysis and data driven decision making.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in Analytical Chemistry and corresponding laboratory instrumentation
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and workload;
  • Strong MS Office application skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.);
  • Ability to functionally learn analytical equipment and interpret data from it;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
