Will identify process upgrades that will streamline production while decreasing operating costs in a chemical production facility. Proffer new processes that may maximize company profit via high quality products and minimal capital expenses. Advance production efficiency by suggesting operational changes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Enhance and update (red line) Process Instrumentation Diagrams (PID's) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) in a chemical production plant.
  • Perform duties in an ISO 9002 certified facility. Tasks include drafting Request For Change (RFC) for process changes/recommendations and answering/writing Corrective Action Requests (CAR) to address nonconformities. As part of the RFC process, economic justification will be established; proposed changes will require approval by the RFC committee.
  • Acquire equipment for process improvements according to specifications that you determine, then establish guidelines for installation.
  • Engineers are answerable for specific processes that they own. The engineer will be accountable for assisting Operations in troubleshooting problems, bringing process systems back on-line if problems occur, and recommending modifications to improve the system for the future.
  • Compose requests for maintenance repairs and capital projects.
  • Establish or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Sustain regular attendance at production, plant staff, and engineering meetings.
  • Formulate an Outage schedule for planned Outages, and provide supervision during Outages.
  • Train operators/maintenance on new processes and equipment, as well as any alterations to the prior processes.
  • Attain familiarity with several EPA, NESHAP, and OSHA regulations relating to the management of hazardous waste, emissions and safety. Become knowledgeable in Responsible CareĀ® ISO 9001, and RAGAGEP. Participate in Risk Management Planning (RMP) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
