It is an opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of an office and plant environment including Safety, General Administration, Logistics, Vendor /Supplier Management, and Customer Service. The Operator shall uphold the fundamentals of the Nicholson Nine, the Responsible Care Guiding Principles, and all Environmental, Health, Safety and Security requirements.Responsibilities (May include but not limited to):GENERAL
  • Comply with all aspects of the PVS Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Policy (Nicholson Nine)
  • Adhere to the Responsible Care Guiding Principles
  • Start up and shut down of the production process in a safe manner and ensure the process is secure while not running
  • Operate production equipment in a safe manner, this includes the operation of the reduction process, oxidation process, maintaining fume scrubbers, transferring products and raw materials, and the cleaning of various filters located throughout the production process
  • Run quality analysis titrations and document results of ferric chloride, ferrous chloride and stannic chloride produced to ensure that the product produced is within specifications
  • Monitoring levels, pressures, temperatures and other parameters
  • Maintain at required intervals the reports and documentation necessary to record daily production numbers
  • Receive, load, and prepare for transport of hazardous materials
  • Computer knowledge of Adage, Excel, Access, Outlook and Word
  • Maintain housekeeping in all areas of the plant, warehouse, and office building
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe and environmentally conscious manner
  • Participate in all plant safety meetings and required safety training
  • Assist as necessary in maintaining plant security
  • Unload and load rail cars as necessary to support plant production
  • Move rail cars as necessary for loading and unloading
  • Assist in the performance of maintenance activities as required to keep the plant running safely and efficiently. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Changing out of pumps, motors, valves, miscellaneous plant equipment
  • Installation and repair of plant piping
  • Cleaning out of production tanks
  • Repair of heat exchangers
  • Trouble shoot equipment problems
  • Assist with various plant projects relating to equipment upgrades and rebuilds
  • Safe operation of plant mobile equipment including skid-steer, man-lift, forklift, shuttle wagon, crane
  • Assist with the preventive maintenance program
  • Assist with incident investigations
  • Write and review operating procedures
  • Complete Hazard Elimination Cards
  • Participate in PVS Technologies safety committee when requested to
REQUIRED EDUCATION / TRAINING / EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience working in a chemical plant is preferred
  • Training in the handling of hazardous materials, lock out tag out, PPE, confined space is preferred
  • The individual for this position must be mechanically inclined with a strong maintenance background
  • Must be able to perform basic plant maintenance tasks without close supervision
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • License to operate a forklift, man-lift and bobcat is preferred
  • Individual cannot have any physical restrictions that would prevent them from obtaining a license to drive any of this equipment
  • Individual must not have any physical restrictions that would prevent them from wearing a respirator
  • Must be able to work weekends and on any shift that may be required to meet plant production needs
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
