**Description**

**OBJECTIVE**

The Chef Instructor will be responsible for hosting classes and events, explaining recipes and demonstrating essential techniques before and during the cooking process. Our dream Chef is communicative, proactive, a strong brand ambassador, flexible, imaginative, exercises ingenuity and has the final responsibility of taking care of a never-to-be-forgotten culinary event. The Chef Instructor will guide guests to a tasty result and entertain them in a casual way. The Chef Instructor is a creative, hands-on person, willing to follow, develop and improve the ZWILLING Cooking Studio concept.

**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Chef Instructor will report to the Resident Chef and Culinary Program Manager and will have responsibilities including:

* Organization

+ Assist with proper daily class preparation and execution as directed by Resident Chef.

+ Manage classes developed by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels.

+ Instruct kitchen assistants and dishwashers.

+ Clean up the kitchen after an event.

* Culinary Instruction

+ Teach 1 to 2 classes per week.

+ Willing to follow ZWILLING J.A. Henckels provided concept, menus and recipes.

+ Teach and demonstrate cooking techniques and knife skills.

+ Lead instruction for Cooking Studio events and corporate-sponsored programs.

+ Provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback to Kitchen Assistants.

* Culinary Expertise

+ Ability to distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors or recognizing particular flavors or odors using tongue or nose.

+ Ensure that food taste, presentation and service is high-quality.

+ Knowledge of every basic and advanced cooking technique.

+ Highly interested in quality products and new developments in the food business.

+ Basic wine/beer/spirits knowledge and willingness to learn.

+ Ability to handle, serve and pour liquor, wine and beer and/or mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, etc. for preparation of cocktails and other beverages.

* Sales

+ Utilize strong salesmanship to promote retail sales before, during and after classes.

+ Serve as an ambassador of the studio, creating opportunities for promoting upcoming classes.

* Additional Requirements

+ Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

+ Ability to remain in a stationary position for 2-3 hours at a time.

+ Ability to reach, push, grab, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, etc. in order to retrieve and/or replenish merchandise or handle cooking equipment.

+ Ability to move and/or lift merchandise and/or kitchen equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

+ Additional responsibilities as assigned by Resident Chef.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Minimum of 5 years experience in Teaching, Food Prep, and Catering.

* Culinary degree or equivalent Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef experience.

* Availability and flexibility to work 1 to 2 events weekly, including evenings and weekends.

* Willing to participate in training provided by ZWILLING J.A. Henckels.

* Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification.

* Customer-focused approach with a dedication to inspire and engage class participants.

* Superior organizational skills; must be able to manage and execute multiple tasks with accuracy.

* Demonstrated successful teaching and training experience.

* Excellent communication and customer focused skills with an affinity for cooking, a desire to learn, and a willingness to support The ZWILLING Cooking Studio concept for long-term growth.
