CHEER ACADEMY PROGRAM MANAGER - TEMPORARY

SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe CHEER Academy Program Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and management of CHEER Academy, an educational initiative designed to promote lifelong learning and healthy living for seniors across CHEER's eight Senior Activity Centers. This role ensures the program's success by overseeing curriculum development, coordinating logistics, recruiting and managing staff and instructors, and fostering collaboration among all centers to maximize impact.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThis listing is representative of the duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not to be construed as all inclusive:

  • Implement, and oversee the CHEER Academy program, ensuring alignment with CHEER's mission and grant objectives.
  • Develop and refine course offerings based on participant needs, industry best practices, and senior wellness trends.
  • Establish program goals, track outcomes, and report on progress to stakeholders, including funders and CHEER leadership.
  • Ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience across all participating centers.
  • Recruit, hire, and manage contracted instructors and class assistants, ensuring they meet program standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to instructors and support staff to ensure engaging and effective course delivery.
  • Evaluate instructor performance and address any concerns related to program quality.
  • Develop and manage course schedules, ensuring a balance of daytime, evening, and weekend offerings.
  • Coordinate logistics across all eight CHEER Senior Centers, ensuring smooth class delivery and resource allocation.
  • Oversee targeted transportation efforts for participants with limited mobility or access.
  • Implement and enforce policies for attendance, participation, cancellations, and instructor absences.
  • Work closely with Senior Center Directors to ensure smooth program integration and center-specific engagement.
  • Partner with CHEER's Marketing Team to promote courses, increase enrollment, and enhance community awareness.
  • Foster relationships with external organizations, guest speakers, and community partners to expand learning opportunities.
  • Manage program budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maximizing impact.
  • Ensure all grant-funded activities are in compliance with DSAAPD grant requirements and financial guidelines.
  • Identify potential funding sources and contribute to grant writing or fundraising efforts to sustain and expand the program.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum requirements for this position are:
  • 2-4 years management experience preferred;
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent personal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly express program and funding information to various audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and responding to evolving program needs.
  • Experience in planning and executing events
  • Ability to identify opportunities and potential problems, and develop recommendations to constructively address these.
  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience.REPORTING: This position reports to the Nutrition Program DirectorPRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Most duties and functions will be conducted in one of the several CHEER facilities but routine travel will be required within Sussex County in the function of recruiting instructors and attending various training courses.WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute mid-day break. Extended work hours may routinely be required for this position to participate course activities required of this position. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as situations require.

    EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary Full-Time, Exempt (40 hrs/week). Position is subject to grant funding.
