Our Checkout Clerks provide knowledgeable and courteous customer service while attending to other assigned duties of the liquor store. Checkout Clerks perform all sales clerk functions, such as cash register transactions, stocking coolers and shelves, and general store maintenance. Our store is open to the public during these hours: Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. WORK SCHEDULE / AVAILABLE SHIFTS: We have a variety of shifts available!M-F Daytime: 4- to 8-hour shifts available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. M-F Evenings: 5-hour shifts generally scheduled to begin between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. Weekends: 4- to 8-hour shifts available in the morning, afternoon, and evening on Saturdays and Sundays. Holidays: 4- to 8-hour shifts available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. *Part-time staff may work up to a maximum of 29 hours per week. Checkout Clerks may be scheduled on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day. (The Store is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Easter. Staff are not scheduled on these dates.) Compensation: $18.76 per hour Eligibility for Hire: Employment is conditional upon successful completion and passage of a criminal history background check, a pre-employment physical, a pre-employment drug screening, and reference checks to determine suitability for employment.   • Rings up retail sales, receives payments and gives change. Receipt and deposit of money, counts cash, balances cash receipts, and reconciles bank drawer.
  • Responsible to check customer identification for proof-of-age and denies service to underage or intoxicated customers. Responsible for accurate management of money received through the sales of store products.
  • Provide efficient, courteous and knowledgeable service to the customers including but not limited to: locating items on shelves, recommending and selling merchandise to customers, and bagging and carrying merchandise to cars.
  • Stocks, arranges, and rotates liquor merchandise on shelves, stocks beer coolers and sets up displays. Stocking shelves involves carrying beer and liquor cases.
  • Performs general maintenance tasks at the liquor store, including but not limited to: setting up and dismantling displays, dusting shelves, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping floors; removing snow from walkways; removing trash from store; cleaning store and cooler windows; and washing shelves and bottles.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Perform as access code holder (ACH) at times specifically designated by the Store Manager. Duties include but may not be limited to: opening/closing the store, counting/reconciling daily receipts, and engaging/disarming the store security system.

Qualifications and Competencies MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). B. Must be 21 years of age or older. C. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. D. Weekends, evenings, and holiday availability is required. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS A. Customer service experience preferred. B. Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in an off-sale liquor operation. C. Cashiering experience preferred. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Requires sound judgment in the handling of product and money.
    • Ability to enforce all store policies and applicable laws.
    • Ability to read and comply with City and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Ability to operate a computerized cash register and use appropriate computer software.
    • Ability to promote and market products and answer customer questions regarding product lines.
    • Ability to proactively greet customers; be friendly, professional, polite and helpful in dealing with customers and employees.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor, and the public.
    • Represent the City in a positive and professional manner at all times.
    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting of 80 lbs.
    • Ability to use safe working practices and recognize hazards or unsafe conditions in daily work.
    SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the supervision of the Liquor Store Manager and/or designee. PUBLIC CONTACTS Continuous contact with the general public. Occasional contact with sales representatives, the police department, and other City employees.
