Job Description :

This position offers a unique opportunity for an individual in sustained recovery to play a vital role in supporting others on their recovery journey. As a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA), you will serve as a mentor, motivator, and guide—providing compassionate, peer-based support to individuals managing substance use disorders. Through sharing personal experiences and modeling positive coping strategies, you will help clients remain engaged in treatment and build sustainable, long-term recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a peer mentor and role model for individuals in recovery by promoting hope, engagement, and self-determination
  • Support client treatment plans through individual and group-level skill development
  • Collaborate with case managers to set goals and track progress for residents
  • Participate in supervision and contribute to team-based care planning
  • Accompany clients to medical, legal, and community appointments to provide sober support and advocacy
  • Support treatment adherence and help clients access needed services (medical, emotional, legal, and financial)
  • Promote awareness of local community resources and recovery supports
  • Assist clients in maintaining continuing care post-discharge, including referral to Health Home services
  • Provide outreach to former clients to encourage ongoing recovery engagement
  • Help individuals self-monitor progress toward recovery goals
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress notes, and reports
  • Participate in support group facilitation as appropriate
  • Communicate client needs and concerns to healthcare providers and staff
  • Adhere to program policies, confidentiality standards, and OASAS regulations (NYS CFR 42)
  • Support a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented program environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalency (required)
  • Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) certification or provisional CRPA (required)
  • First-hand experience with substance use disorder recovery
  • NYS Driver's License (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to share personal recovery experience appropriately
  • Actively engaged in a personal wellness plan and committed to recovery principles
