Our Client is seeking an experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a rehabilitation facility near the San Francisco Bay Area.

Position Summary:

The Experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide high-quality occupational therapy services to patients in a rehabilitation setting. The successful candidate will implement established treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure optimal outcomes for patients recovering from illness, injury, or disability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized patient treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Guide and instruct patients in therapeutic activities and exercises to improve motor skills, functional abilities, and activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, bathing, and eating.
  • Adapt treatment procedures and modalities as needed, and provide feedback to the supervising Occupational Therapist regarding patient progress and any observed changes in condition.
  • Educate patients and their families/caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment use, and home exercise programs to promote independence and safe discharge.
  • Document patient progress, treatments provided, and any relevant observations accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with OTs, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings and in-service training programs to enhance clinical knowledge and contribute to a positive and learning-focused work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area, ensuring equipment is in good working order and adhering to infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols.
  • Support and encourage patients throughout their recovery journey, fostering motivation and a positive outlook.
  • Understand and adhere to relevant payment models, billing guidelines, and treatment regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
  • Current and unencumbered Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) state license in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in documentation.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and computer systems.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
