Job SummaryHomeland has partnered with a trusted community hospital in North Carolina to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for its Behavioral Health Unit. As a CNA, you'll join a dedicated team focused on delivering compassionate mental health care. You'll play a key role in supporting patients in crisis—assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and providing a steady, calming presence.This 294-bed hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and is part of a nationally recognized healthcare network. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CNA will help promote both emotional and physical well-being while contributing to a safe, therapeutic environment for recovery.Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, and mobility
  • Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in patient rooms and common areas
  • Monitor and record vital signs, weights, and other basic health metrics
  • Notify nursing staff of any changes in a patient's physical, emotional, or behavioral condition
  • Participate in and help facilitate therapy groups, including goal-setting and wrap-up sessions
  • Support patient mobility and assist with safe transfers, positioning, and ambulation
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina CNA certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain within one week (facility-sponsored)
  • Handle With Care certification required or ability to obtain within one week (facility-sponsored)
  • At least 1 year of CNA experience preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and basic computer skills preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm and respond appropriately in high-pressure or crisis situations
  • Genuine interest in behavioral health and a commitment to treating patients with dignity and respect
