Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: New York, NY
Pay : $19-$20(hourly)
Shift: Days 5x8 hours
Start Date: ASAP
Duties:
- Patient Care:
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and assist with patient flow.
- Accompany patients to exam rooms, assist with walking, transferring, dressing.
- Collect/process specimens, assist in procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions.
- Clerical Responsibilities:
- Send/receive patient records, obtain lab/x-ray reports.
- Complete forms, requisitions, and manage patient charts in EMR or manually.
- EMR & Orders:
- Enter orders into EMR and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
- Inventory:
- Order and restock medical supplies.
- Examination Room Setup:
- Set up rooms and instruments, ensuring proper sterilization.
- Logging System:
- Maintain logs for medications, point of care testing, sterilization, etc.
- Expiration Checks:
- Check and dispose of expired medications and supplies per policy.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure a safe work environment by following regulations and infection control policies.
- Personal Protective Equipment:
- Comply with PPE requirements for safety against hazardous substances.
- Chart Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining patient charts, including filing reports and test results.
- Scheduling:
- May assist with scheduling surgeries/procedures, prepare necessary forms.
- Phlebotomy:
- Perform phlebotomy duties if required.
- Appointment Scheduling & Registration:
- Schedule appointments, register patients, update demographics and insurance info.
- Office Schedule Maintenance:
- Maintain, adjust, and confirm patient office schedules.
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify and update insurance information.
- Pre-certification:
- Perform pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
- Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Skills:
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (basic level).
- General Skills:
- Effective communication with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent telephone etiquette.
- Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
- Knowledge of EMR or billing systems is preferred.
- Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
