Job Title:
Certified Surgical Technician / Certified Dental Assistant
Job Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technician provides direct surgical support to oral surgery, dental ambulatory OR, and specialty procedures with a focus on EYE, ENT, and Plastic cases. This role ensures the surgical environment is prepared, sterile, and well-organized to enable residents, attendings, and clinicians to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to the surgical chair, verify treatment plans, and ensure medical records are complete.
- Provide consistent “four-handed” surgical assistance, including suctioning, passing instruments, handling medications, and monitoring patient vitals during procedures.
- Prepare operating/procedure rooms by disinfecting counters, mayo stands, and equipment, and organizing sterile instruments, trays, and supplies.
- Support specialty cases in EYE, ENT, and Plastic Surgery by ensuring proper instruments and materials are available.
- Take radiographs as requested, before, during, and after procedures.
- Restock cabinets, order surgical/medical supplies, and maintain proper inventory.
- Safely dispose of medical waste and remove instruments and equipment following procedures.
- Respond promptly and effectively to patient or procedural emergencies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Dental Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of surgical technician experience; 5 years preferred.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in EYE, ENT, and Plastic cases required.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical and ambulatory surgical environment.
Education:
- Associate's Degree required.
