Facilitates proper medical coding for general and specialty surgery procedures, add-on codes and other services alike. Is considered a subject matter expert in the codes and terminologies used in multiple specialties (i.e., Breast Surgery, Cardio and Thoracic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery, Hand Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, OB Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Bariatric Surgery and more). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following job functions may not be the responsibility of all Certified Coding Specialist I s. Some Certified Coding Specialist I s will be assigned work that has more focused responsibilities. Reviews providers surgical operative notes and assigns CPT and diagnosis codes as appropriate.
