Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a part-time Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) for our Bay Street Substance Abuse Center in Staten Island, NY. In this role, you will provide vital counseling services for individuals struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders at our licensed OASAS health center. Your work will involve conducting assessments, evaluations, interventions, and leading both individual and group counseling sessions. Join our collaborative clinical team to deliver comprehensive support and develop treatment plans that foster recovery and rehabilitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Counseling and Support: Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions aligned with treatment goals, providing continuous support to clients in their recovery journey.
  • Program Education: Educate clients about program objectives, rules, rights, and obligations.
  • Treatment Planning and Intervention: Develop individualized treatment plans and implement effective clinical interventions tailored to each client's needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise records of client interactions, assessments, and progress within our electronic health records (EHR) system.
  • Referral and Resource Management: Keep updated resources and referral services available to clients, ensuring comprehensive support for their recovery.
  • Legal Reporting: Prepare necessary reports and legal documentation as per program guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care that aligns with Sun River Health's clinical strategies.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Provide community education on the risks of substance abuse, treatment options, and support resources.

Job Title: Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Location: Bay Street Substance Abuse Center, Staten Island, NY Position Type: Part-Time Salary Range: $24 - $26.79 per hour

Minimum Education & Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Equivalency required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid Full OASAS CASAC certification (completed 350 hours).
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in an OASAS-certified program.
  • Preferred Experience: Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
