Under direct supervision, the Central Sterile Supply Technician performs a variety of work involving the decontamination, preparation, packaging, processing, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical devices, equipment, supplies, and instrumentation according to prescribed procedures and techniques. • High School Graduate or GED • Successful completion of Central Sterile Supply Program• For Incumbents: Complete ten (10) hours of continuing education credits in order to remain qualified to perform the functions of a Central Service Technician• Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) - Required Effective January 1, 2015• OR • Incumbents to the Position as Of January 1, 2015: Provides evidence was employed as Central Service Technician in healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one (1) year, occurring within the four (4) years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.• Able to read, write and speak in English. Able to communicate effectively
