Title: Officer, Hearing
Conducts student discipline hearings, reviews student concerns for enrollment and placement, and provides technical assistance to schools and central office staff on discipline procedures and legal compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Provides guidance on school law, court decisions, and discipline procedures; advises students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Conducts student due process hearings.
- Facilitates educational placements for students returning after incarceration, suspension, expulsion, or felony charges.
- Leads professional development on student discipline, legal updates, and classroom management.
- Collaborates with Public Safety and community agencies on safety and discipline issues.
- Ensures district policies and codes are current and compliant with laws.
- Conducts employee grievance and Title IX hearings.
- Performs employee mediation and other related duties.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate and current Georgia Bar membership preferred.
- Associate's degree or equivalent in paralegal studies or related field required.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in adjudication process required.
