Basic Function: The Center Director of FiftyForward Madison Station serves as the primary leader and representative of FiftyForward in the Madison Station community. This role is responsible for the leadership, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all center programs and services. The Director also supervises staff, manages daily operations and finances, engages with the community, and ensures the continued growth and sustainability of the center through partnerships, fundraising, and strategic planning.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Daily Operations & Supervision: Oversee day-to-day center operations, including supervising staff, managing the center budget, and ensuring the safety and well-being of guests.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, religious and educational organizations, and the senior community to promote a positive image of aging and FiftyForward.
  • Leadership Team Participation: Collaborate with the FiftyForward leadership team on organization-wide planning and decision-making.
  • Budget Oversight: Participate in the annual budgeting process and monitor all center revenues and expenses to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
  • Staff Management: In collaboration with HR and executive leadership, recruit, hire, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Submit timely and accurate reports on membership, services provided, and progress toward goals. Maintain records in accordance with agency and funder requirements.
  • Strategic Goal Attainment: Ensure all program, development, membership, and financial goals are met as defined in the center's strategic plan.
  • Advisory Council Support: Serve as staff liaison to the Madison Station Advisory Council and other relevant committees.
  • Facility Management: Coordinate with the Facilities Manager on building maintenance, repairs, and space utilization, including rental coordination.
  • Grant Writing & Reporting: Write center-specific grants and manage deadlines and reporting in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Public Relations: Work with the Communications Director to implement marketing and branding strategies that align with FiftyForward standards.
  • Fundraising: Lead all fundraising and development efforts for the center, in partnership with development staff.
  • Professional Engagement: Represent FiftyForward Madison Station in local business and professional communities and senior service organizations.
  • Inter-Program Collaboration: Build intentional relationships with other FiftyForward programs to support agency-wide development and success.
Core Work Requirements
  • Education:
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field
    • Preferred: Master's degree in social work, public administration, or a related field
  • Experience:
    • 4–7 years in a social services setting, preferably in a nonprofit
    • Strong supervisory and organizational management skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
    • Experience working with older adults
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Strong oral and written communication
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public
    • Demonstrated success in resource development and community partnerships
  • Special Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license
    • Safe driving record and current automobile liability insurance
    • Willingness to drive a 13–15 passenger van
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to attend events and meetings off-site
    • Work is performed in a smoke-free environment
    • Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Equipment Used: Desktop computer, copier/scanner, multi-line phone system, fax machine, audio-visual/sound equipment, and passenger van
