This position ensures the adherence to operational and function standards. Oversees the plan reviews and specifications that are developed by vendors, contracted architects and engineers for new construction, renovations and space remodeling of state facilities. How does it get done? The Project Manager plays a key role in all phases of construction and administration including contract management, budget oversight, capital allocation, and ensuring efficient project execution, compliance and operational success. Project Management & Contract Administration ¿ assists in the development and administration of contracts, ensuring clear scopes of work, project programming, and planning for cemetery capital projects statewide. Project Planning & Budgeting ¿ develops accurate Project Management Plans (PMPs), calculates budget requirements, and establishes realistic project schedules for capital infrastructure and cemetery projects. Construction Oversight & Performance Management ¿ provides oversight for on-site and ongoing construction meetings. Develops standard performance measures, task outlines and work-breakdown schedules to ensure effective project execution. Financial & Compliance Management ¿ reviews and assists in the processing of payment applications. Evaluates change requests, updates project scopes and schedules, and ensures all capital projects are accurately recorded in the agency¿s database. This position will serve as a liaison between the agency and these contracted vendors. Who are the customers? The work performed is for the State of New Mexico, NM Department of Veteran Services and the State's Veteran Cemeteries (Located in Gallup, Fort Stanton, Angel Fire and Taos). Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have: 1) Extensive background in construction, construction management, construction inspections, and/or construction project management 2) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar 3) Knowledgeable in reading of construction plans and architectural drawings, construction code and industry standards 4) Someone with excellent organization & time management skills, and the ability to ensure quality and safety standards 5) Someone who is adaptable and resourceful with the ability to problem solve. 6) Experience with contract management Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree and two (2) years of experience program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Working Conditions Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone usage.
