Marathon is seeking reliable candidates for a cemetery Grounds Worker position available immediately in Charlottesville, VA!The Cemetery Grounds Worker is responsible for the general maintenance, care, and appearance of the cemetery grounds. Duties include mowing, trimming, planting, digging graves, setting markers, and ensuring the property is kept in a respectful and pristine condition for visitors and services.Key Responsibilities:Mow lawns, trim trees and bushes, remove weeds, and maintain flower bedsMaintain walkways, driveways, and roadways—removing debris, leaves, and snowOperate and maintain grounds equipment including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehiclesInspect the grounds and report any vandalism, damage, or safety hazardsAssist with setup and cleanup for burials and memorial servicesInstall temporary tents, chairs, and other equipment for services as needed.Follow safety and health regulations related to outdoor and cemetery workProvide respectful interaction with visitors and families, maintaining a quiet, professional demeanorQualifications include:Prior experience in grounds keeping / landscaping requiredAbility to operate and maintain landscaping equipmentAbility to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical laborBasic knowledge of tools, safety practices, and grounds careSensitivity to the nature of the work environment and the grieving publicValid driver's license (required) and clean driving recordAbility to pass a full background check and motor vehicle checkPay rate is $14.00 per hour to start, may increase upon full time hire. Benefits available immediately include Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on daily needs.
