Position Summary As a Cath Lab Technologist, you will be responsible for performing specialized cardiovascular procedures under the direction of a physician, including diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations. You'll utilize your expertise in radiologic technology or cardiovascular invasive technology to assist physicians with procedures that require precision, vigilance, and adherence to strict safety protocols. Your work directly contributes to accurate diagnostics and effective treatments for patients with heart and vascular conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with all types of cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures
- Prepare and operate fluoroscopic and other diagnostic imaging equipment
- Maintain a sterile environment and follow all infection control protocols
- Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications under physician direction, and provide emergency support if needed
- Document all procedures, patient conditions, and imaging results according to regulatory and facility policies
- Prepare patients for procedures, including pre-op education and post-procedure recovery support
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and safety
Minimum Requirements
- R.T.(R) ARRT certification or RCIS certification or Paramedic license
- Active Iowa license: RT(R) or Paramedic
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications (American Heart Association)
- Proven experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, sterile technique, and radiographic imaging principles
