Position Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Director, Event Operations, the Catering Manager, Event Operations is charged with ensuring all catered events and programs that occur within Trinity Church NYC. Trinity Commons, St. Paul's Chapel and Trinity Church have been vetted and streamlined within our event management system. The individual will work closely with and manage all catering events and coordinate each to ensure timeliness and a high level of customer service for all programs have been established. The Catering Manager in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Event Operations to oversee the financial administration of all aspects of catering programs including, set-up/breakdown, catering, hospitality, monitoring of cost centers, associated with each event and programs. He/she/they will manage and maintain the TC Event management system to ensure appropriate catering allocations and programmatic efforts of the Vicar's office are being maintained and quantified to ensure equitable usage throughout TCNYC, SPC and Trinity Church. The Catering Manager, Event Operations will also oversee each of the preferred catering vendor contracts enterprise wide to ensure TCNYC mission is aligned in conjunction with the external Catering Companies. The pay range for this position is $103,600 - $117,800. Please note this job does not qualify for remote work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide catering operational leadership and oversight for all events and programs for Trinity Church NYC, Trinity Commons, SPC and Trinity Church non-liturgical events/programs.
  • Develop strategies and plans in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Event Operations to ensure a customer service approach across all Trinity catering programs and events.
  • Maintain the catering portion of the TCNYC Event Management system and create an approach to enhance, revise improve upon current trends.
  • Ensure all catered events and programs have optimum service from inception to completion.
  • Consult with each client or organization as it relates to any large-scale event or program to ensure accuracy and customer service model is being addressed.
  • Work with departments of facilities, marketing, finance, technology and others to insure the smooth and safe running of all catering programs and events.
  • Directly oversee and manage all intakes, reservations and catering bookings for Trinity Church NYC, Trinity Commons, SPC and Trinity Church.
  • Manage and oversee each external preferred Catering Contract and its vendors.
  • Weekly meetings with Assistant Director, Event Operations, Executive Director Event Operations, Facilities and the Catering Vendor to ensure optimum performance for TCNYC.
  • Works in conjunction with Executive Director, Assistant Director, Event Operations and Legal representatives to modify, enhance and/or revise all preferred Catering Vendors' contracts.
Other Responsibilities
  • Represents Trinity Church NYC to others both within and outside the Trinity community and serves on committees or task forces as may be requested by the Vicar.
  • Performs such other specific responsibilities as may be assigned by the Executive Director, Event Operations that will further the goals, objectives and mission of Trinity Church NYC. Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that promote Trinity's mission and core values.
  • Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Activities:
  • Demonstrated track record of catering knowledge and business acumen in and work toward a common vision.
  • Clear and well-defined vision for, and commitment to, the unique role that Trinity plays in the NYC community.
  • Knowledgeable in and demonstrated experience in Catering, Hospitality, Hotel or Event management
  • Experience in developing and managing catering vendor contracts, proposals, and financials relating to catering.
  • Knowledge of, experience with and passion for customer service.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding judgment and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrates integrity and a positive attitude.
  • An enthusiastic, energetic, creative, flexible leader who can juggle multiple priorities.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • High level of discretion.
Required and Preferred Education, Experience, and Credentials:
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Catering/Hospitality/Event Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading effective teams to successful outcomes.
