Location Description

The Post Consumer Brands sales office in Bentonville is in the heart of the Natural State, Arkansas. Bentonville is also home to the Walmart home office, which this sales team primarily serves. In addition to managing the relationship with Post's largest customer, the small, dedicated team also participates in several charitable and volunteer events throughout the year. The team prides itself on winning together and working hard to meet goals, while celebrating wins.

Responsibilities

Joining the PCB Category Management Team as theCategory Manager of Club and Walmartoffers a unique opportunity to lead and shape category strategy for a leading brand in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. This role is pivotal in driving category growth and establishing long-term partnerships with key retailers. You'll leverage your expertise in category management to influence major business decisions and drive profitable growth. This individual will conduct best-in-class shopper and category analysis using multiple syndicated and custom data sources to generate actionable recommendations across product, pricing, promotion, and placement. Customizing strategy and executing aligned efforts through effective communication and influence—while meeting retailer goals—is a priority for this position.

The ideal candidate will apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to recognize and anticipate issues and opportunities, elevate analyses beyond reporting, and translate insights into strategic retail actions.

Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives (KPOs)

  • Develop and Execute Category StrategyCreate a comprehensive category strategy tailored to Club and Walmart. This includes understanding retailer needs, leveraging consumer and category insights, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver integrated consumer, shopper, category, and marketplace insights. Success will be measured by strong retailer partnerships and category growth ahead of market trends.
  • Drive Category Growth through Insights and RecommendationsConduct customized retailer analysis using national research, category management tools, and data visualization. Identify business opportunities or challenges and provide actionable recommendations in product assortment, placement, pricing, and promotion. Effectiveness will be evaluated through increased category sales and retailer recognition of Post as the cereal experts.
  • Manage Customer Category Review ProcessLead the customer category review process, including shelf recommendations and planogram (POG) development. Own implementation of the perfect shelf initiative, collaborating with Category Development to align with overall strategy. Success is measured by retailer acceptance and execution of recommendations.
  • Align with Sales and CS&E Teams to Maximize OpportunitiesCoordinate inputs from PCB Sales and Commercial Strategy & Execution teams to identify and close growth opportunities. Support outputs such as Customer Playbooks, Annual Planning, and Quarterly Business Reviews. Take a leadership role in Joint Business Planning meetings. Success is measured by execution of plans and achievement of sales targets.
  • Develop Customized Selling Tools and StoriesBy the end of year one, create customized, fact-based selling tools and stories that support Post growth initiatives and demonstrate how they drive overall category growth. Success will be assessed by the effectiveness of these tools in driving sales and enhancing retailer relationships.

    Work Environment

    This role is based in-office inBentonville, AR, with a hybrid schedule (typically 3 days in-office and up to 2 days remote per week). Travel to PCB headquarters in Lakeville, MN and retailer headquarters is required as needed.

    The role involves close collaboration with sales teams, CS&E team members, and key retailers. Our culture is team-oriented, innovative, and supportive—encouraging idea-sharing and initiative.

    Daily tools include Syndicated Data (Nielsen/IRI, Spectra, Panel Data), Space Planning (JDA), and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Process of Success

    • First 30 Days: Learn PCB's category strategies, meet key stakeholders, and understand current plans and retailer relationships
    • 60 Days: Develop a short-term action plan, begin collaborating with sales and retailers, and gather insights
    • 90 Days: Implement initial strategy, track performance, and optimize based on early data
    • 6 Months: Present first set of recommendations, align with Sales and CS&E teams, and manage the customer category review process
    • 1 Year: Finalize selling tools, optimize strategies, and achieve predefined KPOs
    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 3 years of experience in the CPG industry in Category Management, Sales, Business Analytics, and/or Insights- Walmart and Club experience strongly preferred
    • 1–2+ years specifically calling on Walmart in Category Management and/or Category Development
    • Strong expertise in data analytics, including syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen), Scintilla, retailer portals, and shopper insights—especially in the Club channel
    • Highly skilled in data visualization and storytelling, with actionable recommendations and compelling presentations
    • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, presentation, and follow-through
    • Passion for winning, a can-do attitude, strong drive for results, and demonstrated ability to collaborate and build influential partnerships
