Cashier - School Lunch Program - Danbury Public Schools District : Job Details

Under the supervision of the Cook Manager, the School Cafeteria Cashier performs routine cashiering and computer-related tasks to support daily food service operations. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills. The Cashier plays a key role in ensuring students are served efficiently while maintaining compliance with food service regulations and financial accountability standards. Examples of Job Duties: Enters pre-payments into the point-of-sale (POS) system prior to breakfast and lunch service. Prepares the cash register for daily operations, including setting up the cash drawer with appropriate change. Monitors dietary notes and alerts in the POS system to prevent students with food allergies from receiving restricted food items. Accurately rings sales into the POS system for meals, milk, and la carte items; collects correct payment and returns change.
