Rooted in the Housing First philosophy, the Case Management Medicaid Eligibility Specialist delivers direct services while ensuring Medicaid compliance and financial coordination within the Finance and Housing Services divisions. This role combines compassionate case management with administrative expertise, ensuring participants receive both the necessary resources and advocacy, while maintaining accurate and aligned Medicaid systems.Essential Position Requirements and CompetenciesCoordinate Medicaid eligibility verification in the DC Medicaid portal and documentation in Credible, supporting accurate billing and reportingSupport participants and/or Case Managers in the Medicaid recertification process, primarily through District DirectAct as a liaison across key stakeholders, including Case Management, Finance, Billing, Compliance, landlords, and external service providersServe as liaison between PSH case managers and participants to ensure timely renewal of Medicaid eligibility Build trusting relationships with participants and respond with empathy and flexibility to foster wellness, independence, and service delivery Maintain thorough and confidential electronic case records and service documentation using systems like Microsoft Suite, Credible, and Housing the Homeless databaseCollect and report outcome data, including monthly progress reports, for program evaluation and complianceParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings, supervision, and actively seek out professional development opportunities.Communicate professionally and clearly in all interactions-both written and verbal-to support seamless service delivery and collaborationDemonstrate integrity, cultural responsiveness, and mission alignment in a fast-paced, equity-driven environmentMaintains compliance in all assigned mandatory training and background clearances.Provide supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness with serious mental illnesses, addictions, medical concerns, etc.Provide interim coverage for Case Manager duties during staff vacancies, leaves of absence, or peak workload periods, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to organizational policies and client service standards.Delivers face-to-face contact to consumers both in the office and in the field as needed.Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the program and its participants RequirementsQualifications:EducationA High School diploma or GED and six years of direct human service experience providing counseling and/or case management services to vulnerable or at-risk populations ORA bachelor's degree in any field and two years of direct human service experience providing counseling and/or case management services to vulnerable or at-risk populationsSkills and CompetenciesBachelor's degree preferredMust have or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification that includes a hands-on skills testing module. Friendship Place will provide First Aid/CPR/AED training.Valid driver's license and current auto insurance.Excellent time management, detail-oriented, organized, capable of maintaining confidentiality, and able to work independently with minimal supervision3+ years of analytical work preferredExperience with adult rehabilitation, mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disordersExperience working with families, youth, and school systems in culturally diverse environments with empathy and integrity.Familiarity with DC Medicaid billing and verificationMust possess and be able to demonstrate strong intra- and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively express ideas, needs, and observations both verbally and in writing. This includes the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, colleagues, and supervisors, as well as to document interactions and incidents accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner.Must be able to demonstrate active listening, emotional awareness, and the ability to adapt their communication style to different individuals and situations.Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a diverse teamAble to demonstrate professionalism across all levels of the organization at work and any organization-sponsored event.Strong commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values.Proficiency in Office 365 system, specifically Word and Excel.Able to learn new systems such as Credible.Physical and Environmental Requirements: The role requires a balance of office-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel throughout the service area to meet with households, as well as participating in meetings and engagements with key stakeholders.Employees must be able to sit for extended periods with repetitive motions and positions. The employee must be able to operate a motorized vehicle. Some lifting may be required (up to 20-25 lbs.)This position is designated as a limited hybrid role with telework opportunities available. Telework is not guaranteed, and eligibility is subject to change at the discretion of leadership based on performance, attendance, and organizational needs. The vehicle must meet all legal requirements, including valid registration and current auto insurance. Compensation: The hiring pay range is between $63,154.00 - $67,000.00 annually. The starting annual salary is based on a step system. A candidate's starting pay determination is made based on meeting the basic position requirements, and current completed education, credentials, and work experience.
