Cart Collector (Transportation)

We are seeking a PT Cart Collector for our Melville Store! Bring your great, customer-serving attitude to Uncle Giuseppe's and join our team!

Cart Collectors are primarily responsible for managing shopping carts in and around our buildings. They conduct routine rounds of the parking lot to ensure that store shopping carts are kept in good order and are available to customers. Responsibilities include cleaning, sweeping trash, mopping, vacuuming floors, scrubbing walls and windows, and removing garbage. Individuals may also perform minor repairs and quick tasks such as transporting items and restocking supplies.

They are thorough in their cleaning and observant of their surroundings. Employers look for cart porters with the following skills and qualifications:

• Physical stamina to stand for several hours and perform high-energy, physical tasks such as carrying heavy objects, mopping, and cleaning large areas
• Interpersonal skills to interact courteously with customers, even if customer service isn't their primary role
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Most of the time is spent moving on hard surfaces. Tasks include bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance. Work is usually indoors, surrounded by machinery and loud equipment, which may require shouting to communicate. Exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers is possible. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and industrial equipment may also occur.
