Job DutiesPosition Summary Caregiver is an important member of the care team of the Mill Gardens Assisted Living facility. Responsibilities: The Caregiver works cooperatively with other staff members. The Caregiver is courteous and respectful to all residents, visitors, and staff. The Caregiver is respectful of Residents' Rights. The Caregiver listens carefully to residents' requests and responds promptly. If he/she cannot respond, the request is directed to the appropriate person. The Caregiver provides cues and reminders about meals, activities, events, etc. The Caregiver assists with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, walking, toileting, getting in and out of bed, getting in and out of a chair, etc. The Caregiver may assist a resident with his/her own personal laundry if requested. The Caregiver provides incontinence care, including linen changes when Housekeepers are not on duty or unavailable. The Caregiver assists with Activities, as requested. The Caregiver assists with snacks or meals, as requested. The Caregiver observes his/her residents carefully and reports any changes or problems to the Nurse on Duty and documents this information in the Communication Log with date, time, and signature. Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization. Position Qualifications A verifiable certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or a Home Health Aide. CPR Certification is required. Three years of experience in the home health industry is preferred. Nursing experience is preferred. Knowledge and ability to use a lifter when necessary. Strong patient service skills. Education High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency certificate required. Job Setting/Physical Demands To fulfill job requirements, the employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods of time. When supporting, lifting, or transferring residents, proper body mechanics and safety measures, as prescribed by the residence, must be used. In a typical 8-hour day, the employee may: Stand/walk up to six hours a day. Sit up to three hours a day. Frequently support up to 70 pounds. Occasionally lift/carry up to 30 pounds. Frequently kneel, bend, and reach. Secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting residents, as needed.
