Using a Trauma Informed approach, and grounded in Motivational Interviewing, the Career Training Coach provides participants guidance, support, coaching, and referrals to ensure successful completion of the program, and entry into the workforce. The Career Training Coach will develop a portfolio of resources, including employment, educational, and training opportunities appropriate for participants. They will build relationships with cohort participants through one-on-one meetings, and through their presence in and support of career training workshops and other program activities. They will also be responsible for providing follow-up services to program alumni, which will include setting up and overseeing internships, and continuing outreach to both employers/internship partners and graduates to ensure success and to track outcomes. They will provide ongoing career path guidance to alumni in order to support the Economic Mobility of program graduates. The coach will work closely with GSS staff within the Education and Vocation Division, as well as other GSS programs, to provide appropriate next steps and ensure a continuum of services that will support participants in attaining their goals for the future. Reports to: Good Work Program Director Location: 1 East Fordham Road, Bronx, NY/ East 233rd ST, Bronx NY Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt Salary: $45,000 to $50,000 Major Duties: Coach participants of GSS' Good Work Programs, providing guidance that will ensure their success during the program, and supporting the continued success of alumni as they enter into the workforce; Develop apprenticeship, internship, and employment opportunities for participants, as well as a portfolio of training and educational programs in fields of interest to young people; Maintain contact with employer and internship partners in order to support placements and ensure success; Record program data including outcomes, progress, and challenges, in data management systems; Provide support and guidance to program graduates during internships, apprenticeships, and employment; Support Program Director and Program Managers during Career Readiness training, providing oversight and guidance to participants during workshops and other program activities, including mini-internship experiences; Support Good Work Program Managers in guiding participants through our resume development process. Provide individual career counseling to participants during the cohort and to alumni throughout aftercare placements; Use a Trauma Informed approach with participants, and Motivational Interviewing style in coaching participants around careers and next steps; Accompany youth to appointments and activities as needed; Assist Program Director and Program Managers in conducting intakes, leading workshops, and other duties as required. Qualifications: Minimum of 1 years of experience working with out-of-school, out-of-work youth required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
