Position Details The Office of Career Services at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Career Readiness Coach. The Career Readiness Coach provides individual/group professional and career coaching on topics including job search strategy, identifying and infusing Spartan Ready ® competencies into career readiness, pursuing experiential educational opportunities, and program creation around interview skills and development. The position will elevate services targeting job and internship seekers to prepare for full-time employment post-graduation. As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of collaboration, personal responsibility, professionalism, community, and citizenship. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic priorities, including the elevation and expansion of job search education and internship services. This position will initially report to the Executive Director of Career Services. As a member of the Office of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of data-informed practice, sense of belonging, overall well-being, professional staff development, retention and persistence, and Spartan Ready® culture. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic focus areas to advance the mission and vision of Student Affairs which results in student learning and support for students to grow as global citizens. Responsibilities 1. Conduct individual and group career coaching appointments for upper-level undergraduates regarding job-search strategies, career management, and industry trends to facilitate career success. 2. Teach the CAR 401- Job Search Strategies (7-week) course once per semester. 3. Support student engagement plan to increase participation in professional programming such as workshops, group appointments, Career Fairs, and newly designed initiatives. 4. Establish and streamline a comprehensive student Mock Interview Program, to include traditional and AI-supported interview formats. 5. Serve as software administrator to the AI platform, Quinncia, which delivers resume, interview, and LinkedIn assistance, with new and established internal academic partnerships. 6. With Career Services staff, support implementation, assessment, and annual review as needed of new university-wide career readiness course, UTAMPA 201. This course is a required course - part of the general education curriculum titled Spartan Studies. 7. Design and implement programming based upon current workforce trends and student needs. 8. Collaborate with university partners to enhance and advance the Spartan Ready ® competencies. 9. Strengthen the University's expanded focus on employer engagement, Internships For All, and career readiness for undergraduate students and recent alumni. 10. Identify long-term programs and strategies to positively impact retention and enrollment efforts with all student populations. This includes internal departmental objectives Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, Student Affairs collaboration and intentional programming. 11. Collaborate with Career Services staff on departmental programs and initiatives, providing support in areas including drop-in sessions, delivering workshops, and classroom presentations. 12. Contribute expertise and innovation to support annual Career Services goals and invest in positive and collaborative office culture. 13. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds. Requirements 1. Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Higher Ed. or related area. 2. Minimum of one (1) year related experience as a professional career counselor/coach in an academic setting required. 3. Proven knowledge of career development theories, career counseling skills; Experience utilizing and interpreting MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and StrengthsFinder are a plus. 4. High level of customer service; collaboration, exceptional work ethic; attention to detail; organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through ability. 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to speak effectively in front of groups 6. Strong skills related to critiquing resumes, interviewing, and job search, and solid project management skills. 7. Demonstrated experience with career management technology (Handshake, CSO, Focus2, Quinncia), online career resource tools, Canvas (Spartan Learn), and social media applications. 8. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. 9. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and familiarity with online resume and job listing systems; Strong skills in Excel and database management experience. 10. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office. 11. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices. 12. Attend trainings and fully engage in learning and utilizing university-wide technology, specifically Workday, and other department specific technology platforms. This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
