SHIFT: Day/evening/weekend hours | Flexible based upon the needs of the College LOCATION: Lakeshore College - Cleveland, Wisconsin POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direction, leadership, and planning for co-curricular and career development activities and assessment, including Career and Employment Services, Student Leadership Board, Student Life and Engagement, Internships, Service Learning, and the Learn, Lead, Succeed Student Development program. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):(35%) Career and Employment Services • Serve as the point of contact and coordinate the College's guaranteed retraining policy. • Collaborate with the Advancement Office to engage students and alumni to advance the college and support career and transfer initiatives. • Collaborate with faculty to create and offer classroom content, presentations and materials for students in the areas of career and employment development, including employability skills and tactics and employment technology. • Track data and obtain feedback to support priorities and focus areas. • Use best practices and leading-edge research to provide direct student support in the areas of job/internship searches, resume reviews, and mock interviews. • Create career and employment services and processes that ensure equity, respect individuals, follow professional industry standards, and comply with employment laws. (35%) Student Leadership • Responsible for the Lakeshore Student Leadership Board (SLB) as primary advisor. • Serve as primary contact and subject matter expert to Lakeshore SLB, student organization advisors, and members. Develop and monitor annual SLB requirements and process; responsible for student organization requests for funding and managing annual Official Handbook of Student Organization Operations. • Coordinate with Lakeshore's representation of and participation in Wisconsin Student Government meetings and membership, including travel preparation and member training and preparation. • Facilitate annual selection process for, scheduling, and support of Lakeshore's representative of the Wisconsin Technical College System's Student Ambassador. • Maintain records retention for SLB meeting minutes, manage communication, and tracking of funds. (30%) Student Life and Engagement • Provide leadership for student life operations including serving as co-advisor to the Student Leadership Board (student governance) and the Learn, Lead, Succeed Student program, to enhance the quality of the student experience for the college. • Direct and offer a basic needs support program, StudentSHARE, to create a more affordable and holistic college experience. • Supervise student worker(s) who support StudentSHARE operations. • Coordinate the planning of the Annual Awards Reception to ensure quality recognition of student success. • Bring together operations for the college's mascot, including scheduling actors and handlers for events, processing payments, and costume cleaning. • Create school year schedule for student events and facilitate event logistics including completing event sheets, purchasing within budget, organizing professional contracts with event vendors, scheduling travel/lodging, communicating facility, technology, and personnel needs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related discipline required. Bachelor's degree preferred. • Two to four years of relevant occupational experience required. • Higher education experience setting preferred. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION: • Valid state of Wisconsin driver's license required. KNOWLEDGE • Knowledge of Lakeshore's mission, vision, and strategic direction. • Familiarity with different leadership styles and techniques. • Theories, principles, and practices associated with higher education, co-curricular learning and assessment, matriculation, career development, transfer process, and student services. • Development, maintenance, and administration of a budget. • Professional knowledge of pertinent federal and state laws and regulations. SKILLS • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Effective interpersonal skills and customer service skills. • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. • Effective leadership and team-building skills. • Ability to incorporate technology in the development and delivery of programming and services.
