About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiothoracic Donor Procurement Surgeon to join a national organ retrieval and management program collaborating with leading transplant centers across the U.S. This critical role focuses on maximizing the utilization and clinical quality of donor heart and lung procurements through advanced organ preservation technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of deceased donor heart and lung procurement surgery, including clinical organ assessment and bronchoscopy as needed.
- Utilize advanced organ preservation instrumentation according to clinical protocols and quality standards.
- Travel frequently to donor and recipient sites nationwide, potentially for extended assignments.
- Maintain exceptional professional and communication standards in the operating room and with transplant teams.
- Contribute to the development and standardization of surgical retrieval and donor organ management protocols.
- Mentor and train junior surgical team members, including proctoring retrieval cases.
- Collaborate closely with transplant programs to provide surgical assessments aiding clinical decisions.
- Support organ allocation logistics through effective communication with clinical teams.
Qualifications:
- MD or equivalent medical degree with specialized cardiothoracic surgical training.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience conducting deceased cardiothoracic (heart and lung) donor organ procurement and advanced cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in time-sensitive clinical settings.
- Proficient in electronic messaging platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Highly flexible and adaptable to frequent travel demands.
