Position: Capital Projects Coordinator

Organizational Background: From the top of Mount St. Alban, St. Albans School looks up to the Washington National Cathedral and out to the United States Capitol. Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Capital Projects Coordinator manages programming, design, budgeting, and construction of school-related capital improvement projects on the St. Albans campus. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in implementing the School's capital plan for facilities, including major construction, redevelopment, and routine repairs.
  • Coordinate processes related to project initiation, permits, bids, and approvals.
  • Oversee on-site construction activities, managing timelines, contracts, punch lists, and safety concerns.
  • Incorporate programmatic requirements by collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Prepare budget estimates for design, consulting, and construction in collaboration with the Finance Office.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and internal/external stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Monitor construction quality standards and contract conformance.
  • Prepare analyses and reports on project operations.
  • Establish and ensure safety protocols during project execution.
  • Prepare project close-out documentation.
  • The position may include other duties as assigned, and the omission of specific duties does not preclude additional responsibilities.

    Classification & Compensation

    Type: Staff, Full-Time, Exempt, Onsite, Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000. Reports to the Director of Facilities. No supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications
    • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in facilities design, construction, architecture, or project management.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, Project Management, or related field.
    • Preferred certifications: PMP, LEED AP, OSHA 10-hour.
    • Experience in construction project management, interpreting building documents, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure.

    Working Conditions

    Typically Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional nights and weekends. Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks around a sprawling campus.
