Position Overview:
Seeking a seasoned Capital Projects Manager to lead and execute capital improvement initiatives at a sugar processing facility in Chalmette, LA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Union labor environments, SAP project systems, and industrial project management. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of capital projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of capital projects ranging from infrastructure upgrades to process optimization.
- Collaborate with plant leadership, engineering teams, and union representatives to ensure project alignment and compliance.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources using SAP Project Systems (PS) and other tools.
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication and reporting, including progress updates and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and cost control.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience managing capital projects in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Prior experience working in Union labor environments is required.
- Proficiency in SAP, especially in Project Systems (PS) and Materials Management (MM).
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- PMP certification or equivalent is a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in the food processing industry, especially sugar or similar commodities.
- Familiarity with project execution methodologies.
- Knowledge of Louisiana state regulations and environmental standards.
