Come join our Recreation Department staff as CAP Assistant Site Director! The Arlington Heights Park District is seeking part-time Site Directors for the CAP Before and After School Program. This position requires creative, energetic individuals who love to work with people, especially school-aged children. CAP Site Directors are responsible for the supervision, planning, and implementation of a variety of activities at a before and after-school site for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6:45-9:15 am and 3:00-6:00 pm. Additional hours are required on days when school is not in session or is only in session for half of the day. Planning and meeting hours are available as needed. Please note that training for this position takes place the week of August 4th and 11th. Part-Time Wages BENEFITS WE OFFER

JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION
- Creates, plans, and implements a variety of daily activities for CAP program, including, but not limited to: arts and crafts, sports, music, dance, games, nutrition, teambuilding, social activities, outdoor play, special events, and homework time.
- Communicates with school staff daily-checking absences
- Creates and distributes a monthly calendar/newsletter (electronically sent to CAP Supervisor)
- Works closely with the inclusion staff to ensure a smooth transition for special needs participants
- Distributes registration and all other CAP program information for upcoming half-day and full-day programs to all parents
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, milk, and snacks, and submits requests to CAP Supervisor at least one week in advance
- Follows and enforces the guidelines set forth by the CAP Staff and Parent Manuals and wears staff shirt as directed
- Responsible for training new staff by covering information in the New Employee Packet
- Assigns staff responsibilities for daily activities
- Handles staff disciplinary issues as needed, including NWSRA-communicates with CAP Supervisor
- Responsible for creating staff schedule-monitoring staff-to-participant ratios
- Works with CAP Supervisor to schedule CAP staff on full and half days
- Submits requests for time off, reports absences to the CAP Supervisor, and arranges for substitute staff as needed
- Administers appropriate consequences for participants' unacceptable behavior and refers more severe conduct problems to the CAP Supervisor
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree in Education, Recreation, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum three years of experience working with or supervising children in a childcare or program setting; supervisory experience preferred
- Must pass Illinois Criminal Background Check (ISP fingerprint), DCFS CANTS screening, and TB test; CPR/AED (Child & Adult) certification required
- Strong ability to work with school-aged children and maintain positive relationships with staff, families, and the public
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills; ability to remain composed in high-stress or emergency situations
- Self-motivated with the ability to follow through on tasks, work independently, and take direction from supervisors
