Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Associate's Degree with coursework in Anatomy and Physiology

Required Experience:

  • One year of cancer registry, medical records or related healthcare experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • If not currently a CTR must be CTR eligible and must sit for the certification examination for cancer registrars no later than 18 months of hire with successful results after no more than three attempts.

Preferred Certification/License/Registry:

  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR), Cancer Registrar or RHIT
Responsibilities

The Cancer Registrar role is a specialized Health Data Analyst with focus in oncology.

You Will:

  • Work collaboratively to support tactical goals and assist in the development and maintenance of a quality assurance program for cancer services.
  • In accordance with established policies and procedures, identifies and collects abstracts and disseminates oncology data to assist physicians, nurses, clinical care providers and management personnel for developing guidelines, criteria, and clinical indicators which are then applied to measure quality of care.
  • Assist department in evaluating data and implementing change in same where necessary.
  • Ensure standards of Hospital quality assurance program, Joint Commission (JC), American College of Surgeons (ACOS), Commission on Cancer (CoC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) and other regulatory agencies are met.
