ROLE TITLE: Campus Post Office Clerk (Part-time temporary through June 2026)POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Retail Operations* Summary of PositionThis position supports the Campus Post Office Specialist with the day-to-day operations of the post office, which is part of the cross-functional Retail Operations team. This team includes the campus store, printing services, and the post office. The position requires flexibility to work across all areas of the Retail Operations team, with cross-training provided to ensure a broad understanding of each function. The Campus Post Office Clerk interacts with a diverse customer base, including students, faculty, employees, and community members, in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include processing mail and packages, maintaining accurate records, assisting customers with postal services, and ensuring the post office operates smoothly and efficiently. The role will occasionally require evening and weekend shifts, particularly during peak periods or campus events.* As the Campus Post Office Clerk, you will:* Mail, Package Processing, and Post Office Operations - Manage the receipt, inspection, and distribution of incoming mail and packages, ensuring all items are accurately tracked and delivered to the appropriate recipients. Process outgoing mail/packages, including correct labeling, addressing, and metering using the college's shipping and metering equipment. Assist customers with selecting the proper mailing services and postage options. Maintain knowledge of UPS and USPS regulations and pricing to guide customers effectively. Ensure compliance with chain of custody policies and procedures for confidentiality and security. Utilize the college's tracking system to monitor incoming mail and packages and ensure their timely receipt and storage. Assist with the locker package delivery system and provide support to students retrieving packages. Ensure the post office operates smoothly by maintaining a clean, organized workspace, keeping postal equipment in good working order, and coordinating any required operational support* Customer Service and Cross-Department Collaboration - Provide exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, and community members, assisting with postal inquiries, guiding customers on mailing services, and ensuring efficient transactions. Complete retail transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system while adhering to cash handling policies. Answer phone inquiries professionally and assist with postal-related questions. Foster collaboration with other Retail Operations team members, including the campus store and printing services, ensuring seamless service across departments, especially during peak times or special events. Support cross-functional activities, ensuring the post office contributes effectively to broader campus operations.* Inventory Management - Maintain an organized and efficient workspace, regularly cleaning and checking equipment to ensure it is functioning properly. Restock supplies such as packaging materials, postage, and office supplies, anticipating needs based on usage trends and customer demand. Track inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary. Assist with the academic year-end student mail cleanout and box number reassignments to ensure a smooth transition for the next academic year.* Record Keeping and Documentation - Maintain accurate records of all mail transactions, including incoming and outgoing items, as well as postage and delivery logs. Ensure proper tracking of registered, certified, and other special mail types. Update records as needed, keeping all tracking information current and accessible for future reference or audits.
