General Responsibility Statement: Responsible for acquiring materials, supplies and services, placing orders for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts already in place. Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Reviews opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered. Follows up on material purchase orders. Works with the logs and records in the purchasing department to ensure accuracy and follow through. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity. Sets up blanket order's and keep's records for out source parts. Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications. Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories. Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates with suppliers and places orders when requested. Creates purchase orders and enters them into the ERP system. Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries and coordinates returns. Manage information within database for tracking and reporting purposes. Maintains documentation of policies & procedures regarding purchasing and inventory control. Adjusts, analyzes, compiles and distributes inventory control information, including; status sheets, cost updates, sales transfers, and credit notes. Investigates entry problems. Participates in continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and by exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control. Performs other duties as requested by management. Education, Reasoning ability, and or Experience: Experience with Global Shop Solution is preferred. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) preferred, but not required; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Ability to work with and apply basic mathematical concepts and principles. Ability to apply basic accounting skills in a manufacturing environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Communication and Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Other Skills and Abilities: Possesses basic computer and keyboarding skills. Familiar with all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
