You will contribute by:
Placing purchase orders with vendors through the buying system, leveraging historical data, customer input, and demand forecasts.
Generating and analyzing reports to monitor inventory levels and track product expiration dates within C&S warehouses.
Negotiating with vendors and customers to improve product flow and resolve issues with close-dated, expired, or unproductive inventory.
Utilizing system tools to analyze purchasing trends and guide decision-making.
Collaborating with team members to achieve established goals and maintain budgeted inventory levels.
Mentoring Buyer Assistants by setting priorities, serving as the central vendor contact, developing inventory projects and initiatives, and managing customer-specific processes.
Engaging with customers to celebrate successes and address concerns.
Partnering with the merchandising team to price new items, maintain item data, and support gross profit objectives.
Assisting with seasonal volume, storm recovery, service-level recovery, absence or vacation coverage, and additional training as needed.
We're searching for candidates with:
Strong knowledge of the industry
Expertise in one or more commodities is preferred
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Solid statistical and analytical skills
Strong problem-solving and interpretation abilities
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
Minimum 1 year of purchasing experience, 2 years preferred
Previous retail or grocery experience is preferred
