What You Will Do:
As the Business Unit Controller, you will partner with the BU General Manager on the planning, management, and execution of business initiatives and priorities – ensuring financial and operational objectives are aligned to the business goals.
What You Will Accomplish:
- Plan, manage, and execute on projects and priorities, ensuring operations are within business parameters based on the goals of the business.
- Lead, manage, support, and collaborate with the Shared Services team, ensuring timely & accurate closing of various period financials, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and providing explanations for business performance variances relative to budget and prior periods.
- Lead financial planning, including the annual planning cycle, analysis, and reporting activities – including budgeting, forecasting, and variance explanations.
- Perform key financial analysis, summation, and provide recommendations/input for new products, product pricing, capital investing, and other strategic projects to ensure initiatives stay within budget and business goals are achieved.
- Oversee compliance activities related to internal controls, policies, and audit processes – ensuring timely and accurate documentation for internal/external audits.
- Manage inventory accuracy through physical counts and reconciliations, while driving improvements in valuation metrics and reporting.
- Lead and mentor employees on financial concepts in relationship to the business and their area of ownership to achieve integrated goals.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; will consider equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA preferred but not required.
- Experience: 7-10 years of progressive financial analysis, financial reporting, and accounting experience within a manufacturing environment; Experience with multi-site and international multi-currency highly preferred; Public accounting experience a plus.
- Certification(s): CPA/CMA preferred but not required.
- Functional Skills: Excellent general accounting, financial analysis, and manufacturing labor cost accounting skills; Experience researching, reviewing, and interpreting large amounts of data; Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to teach, train, and coach non-financial staff in financial concepts; Experience providing financial accountability through reviewing trends, variances, and cost analysis; Strong understanding of US GAAP principles.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with MS Office; Advanced Excel experience with the ability to extract data from various systems; Previous ERP experience.

Other Important Information:
Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise
Reports To: Business Unit VP/GM with a dotted line to Corporate Controller
Core Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm (Schedule has some flexibility – will work between 8-9 hours within this timeframe)
Typical Work Week:M-F; Occasional weekends (during closings); 45-50 hours per week on average
Direct Reports: 1
Work Conditions: Primarily an office environment with regular visits to manufacturing areas
Travel: 15% - Typically visits to other company facilities
