Salary: $34,298.00 - $51,793.00 Annually Location : Huntsville, AL Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 06625 College/Division: DRAKE-602010-Fiscal Management Opening Date: 07/31/2025 Closing Date: 8/14/2025 5:30 PM Central Campus Location: Drake State Community & Technical College Position Summary The Business Office Clerk will support the Business Office Staff in developing, organizing, and sustaining the goals of the office and the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook. SALARY: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E5, Grade 05 Salary Range $34,298 - $51,793 - (12 months - Non-Exempt Support Staff) Salary step placement is based on education and experience per Drake State's practice for awarding salary step credit. Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday Essential Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Business Office Clerk shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff handbook:
  • Route calls to the appropriate person or location
  • Greet, assist, and direct visitors to the proper office
  • Generate a report to monitor vendor over $50,000 to prevent bid law violations
  • File according to established procedures
  • Maintain files of required federal and state disclosure information, W-9, and all voided checks
  • Sort and distribute campus mail according to established procedures
  • Work as liaison with college bookstore
  • Receipt and balance payments, prepare bank deposits as backup cashier during peak times
  • Maintain compliance with college and program related accreditation and certification standards.
  • Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
  • Serve on college committees as requested
  • Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Accountant Executive Director of Fiscal Affairs and Administrative Services, and/or President
Job description may be modified or altered at any time by management. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of an earned Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of continuous work experience
  • Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor
  • Ability to work cooperatively while meeting short deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned Bachelor's degree in a business-related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Experience working in Banner

Sick Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month.
