The Office of Business Diversity (OBD) is responsible for the administration and monitoring of the Remedial Program ( Program ) for Minority-Owned Business Enterprise ( MBE ) and Women-Owned Business Enterprises ( WBE ). The MBE and WBE Remedial Policies are intended to help create and sustain an equitable business environment by promoting the participation in public contracting and procurement of all qualified and available businesses owned and controlled by minorities and women.
Job SummaryThe Business Diversity Analyst reports to the Executive Director of Office of Business Diversity and is responsible for all aspects of MBE and WBE data analysis and report generation from our B2Gnow software system and Power BI. As well as website maintenance and ad hoc/special projects as required.
This position will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
Develops regular and special reports and analysis from data on department programs. Creates and maintains compliance reports that identify discrepancies within computerized databases.
Prepares construction related spend report illustrating economic impact by ethnicity, gender, and trade classification.
Compiles, manipulates, and analyzes data using appropriate statistical techniques. Works with approved enterprise analytic tool sets. (SAS, SQL). Conducts regular audits and analysis to ensure data integrity and maintain accurate master data files. Identifies data issues and recommends changes to management. Ensure data quality and integrity across Offices. Participates in District's Data Analyst User Group.
Participates in a variety of special projects as assigned. Creates various graphic presentations relating to MBE and WBE related activities.
Update and maintain OBD Training Manual.
Work with B2Gnow IT team and CPS IT team to ensure payment and contract data is transmitted and loaded to the system accurately and timely.
Researches and analyzes special MBE and WBE issues and prepares related reports. Submits reports to the Executive Director for review. These accurate reports are disseminated with the Board Office, senior management, media relations, special interest groups, etc.
Supports analytic project planning, design and implementation across all contracts.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsIn order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, this position must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in the private or government sectors. Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience involving systems management/financial analysis. Previous financial analysis and reporting experience in B2Gnow software compliance and reporting strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPossess a general understanding of the various affirmative action policies throughout Chicago and Illinois.
General understanding of procurement policies and procedures; knowledge of the solicitation process
Proficient in Oracle, B2Gnow Software, Power BI, Excel and Access, project management or comparable ERP systems.

Conditions of EmploymentAs a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
