Business Development (VP) - Learning Sales

Our client is a global learning solutions provider - e.g. eLearning, face-to-face training, custom-built learning programs, etc. They are a well-established and successful global business with a Fortune 500 client base, predominantly in highly regulated industries, especially banking.

The New York office has a requirement for an experienced Business Development Manager/VP for their e-learning and custom learning side of the business. This role will suit someone currently working within the corporate learning solutions space.

The role has dual responsibilities:

  • Delivering on the growth targets for the e-learning and custom business unit in conjunction with the US sales team.
  • Account management from origination through scoping and implementation in conjunction with the Europe-based custom and production teams.
  • This is a consultative and client-facing role. The successful candidate will possess a combination of skills in consultative sales, consulting, solution design, and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders in the US and Europe. On the sales side, it involves both farming and hunting .

    The role in some detail:

    • Business Development and quota achievement ($1m+)
    • Building networks with new and existing accounts to strengthen overall relationships and provide as-needed support to drive revenue growth.
    • Promoting digital content and related consultancy services.
    • Scoping potential projects and innovating new approaches to meet clients' needs and budgets.
    • Report/proposal writing and client-facing presentations.
    • Brainstorming ideas with the product development team on various projects.
    • Contributing to the innovation drive within the company.
    • Researching and calculating market gaps for the company.

    What our client is looking for in the ideal candidate:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role selling learning-related solutions to corporate clients, ideally within highly regulated industries. Banking/FS preferred.
    • Proven track record in sales or a revenue-generating role.
    • Ability to execute under tight deadlines in a highly collaborative organizational structure.
    • Personal initiative and drive with the ability to work independently to achieve objectives.
    • Genuine interest in learning, growing, and pushing boundaries to develop quality programs, products, and services for clients.
    • Innovative yet pragmatic thinker who applies creative solutions to client problems.
    • Highly detailed, organized, and efficient.
    • Strong client service orientation.

    The budgeted salary for the role is set at USD 135-150k plus commissions.

    Note: This role is mainly office-based, 4 days per week, so you should be comfortable and willing to commute into Manhattan most days.
