Business Development Manager - Remote United States
The Business Development Manager plays a key role in shaping our future. They are responsible for discovering and securing new business opportunities (with existing and new customers). This role is built for individuals who thrive on delivering results.
Day-to-Day Role:
- Proactively identify, pursue, generate, and secure opportunities for growth and expansion within untapped or low-penetration accounts by leveraging your network, conducting market research, and prospecting potential new business
- Develop and maintain a target account list, track all engagement, quoting, and progress in biweekly executive summaries
- Quickly qualify opportunities, establish strong relationships and close new business that generates profitable, sustainable revenue
- Develop and execute sales strategies that achieve individual and team targets with a focus on acquiring new customers and expanding our market presence
- Transfer stabilized, revenue-generating accounts to National Account Management personnel following a defined process
- Lead negotiations, including pricing, terms and contractual agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes while adhering to company policies and objectives
- Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to identify new business opportunities and adapt strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product line management, pricing, marketing, product development and customer success, to ensure seamless delivery of solutions that align with manufacturing capabilities
- Serve as the link of communication between assigned accounts and internal Dart teams, aligning internal and external subject matter experts, and ensuring deadlines are met
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline, provide clear reporting on all activities/key developments, and communicate the support needed from internal teams to move business forward
- Lead or support discussions involving contracts, requests for proposals, supplier agreements and other documents from assigned customers
- Strategically prepare for all sales calls using multidimensional program selling or analysis, creativity, technical, and scientific product knowledge for assigned accounts
- Act with urgency, adaptability, and ownership in all aspects of the sales process
Core Skills and Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, finance, supply chain or related field of study equivalent combination of experience will be considered
- Five (5) years of experience in business development or sales roles focused on new customer acquisition
- Demonstrated track record of success in a sales or business development role
- Proactive and self-driven attitude with an ability to thrive in a target-oriented environment
- Exceptional at relationship building, negotiating, prospecting, presenting, and closing skills, with a focus on consistently exceeding sales targets
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to the overall success of the company
- Solid understanding of market dynamics, industry trends, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and make informed business decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to persuade, influence decision making, effectively convey value propositions, negotiate contracts, and build rapport
- Proficient with PowerPoint while presenting virtually or in person
- Experience managing and executing multiple tasks, projects and priorities
- Maintain composure when faced with stressful situations
- Exhibit creativity and flexibility in solving customer problems that lead to new business
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized with strong reporting and planning skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with CRM, Power BI, or equivalent
