Description The Business and Human Resources Generalist provides administrative and operational support to both the Business Office and Human Resources department. This cross-functional role supports daily financial operations including, accounts payable/accounts receivable, and cash handling-as well as core HR responsibilities such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle confidential information with discretion. The Generalist also functions as the Student Employment Coordinator. Job Duties and Responsibilities:Business Office (Approximately 50%):
  • Assist with billing inquiries, payment processing, and account reconciliation.
  • Distribute/receive petty cash to/from college personnel.
  • Process accounts payable and maintain accurate vendor files.
  • Serve as back-up for payables and cash receipts.
  • Prepare bank deposits as needed and deliver to the bank.
  • Handle daily cash receipts and deposits; reconcile accounts as needed.
  • Support purchase order processing and vendor communications.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes and audits.
  • Maintain organized records of financial transactions and documentation.
  • Provide front-line support to students, faculty, and staff regarding financial services.
  • General administrative function including managing the CFO's calendar, filing and maintaining financial records.
Human Resources (Approximately 50%)
  • Maintain accurate employee records, organizational charts and job descriptions.
  • Assists with employee recruitment, posts positions on various websites and with other recruitment sources.
  • Maintains applicant tracking and prepares follow-up correspondence to candidates.
  • Processes candidate background checks.
  • Meet with final candidates to review application materials and share benefit information
  • Coordinates the new hire process, related paperwork and I-9 forms for faculty, staff and students
  • Under the direction of the CHRO, prepares appointment letters
  • Maintains organization charts, updates human resources, benefits and payroll information posted in Blackboard and on the College's website
  • Coordinates the student employment process. Collaborates with Student Finance to track FWS awards as they relate to payroll dollars. Manage the time and attendance system and export data for payroll processing.
  • Processes student and employee payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Provides backup for the main payroll.
  • Performs routine administrative duties including filing, preparing human resources related documents and mailings.
  • Manages the employee database(s) for the performance management system and the employee online training system. Functions as the system administrator for both.
  • Assists with benefits administration, enrolls new employees with carriers and processes any changes.
  • Prepares various reports from the payroll system or other sources.
  • Provides support for human resource programs, benefit programs and wellness initiatives.
  • Responds to employee requests, as needed, as they relate to human resources, benefits and payroll matters.
  • Create new employee records in Power Campus. Coordinate email creation and removal with IT.
  • Set up new staff and coaches in Blackboard. Give appropriate access.
  • Coordinate payment for summer camps/clinic staff.
  • Documentation support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent administrative and organization skills

  • Knowledge of human resources, payroll and benefits administration
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of all employees records and information
  • Knowledge of ability to navigate the Paychex payroll system, the applicant tracking system, and other HR supportive technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in administrative, financial or human resources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with integrity
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
